Hives is a kind of skin related disorder that causes blotchiness, itching and red patches on the skin. There are several reasons for occurrence of hives but they mostly develop due to release of histamines by mast cell due to allergic reactions. There are several other reasons like foods, drugs, environmental pollutants, infections, emotional stress, physical stress, friction, pressure, temperature extremes, exercise and sunlight and insect stings. In about 80 percent of the people suffering from hives usually don’t know the reason of hives occurrence.
The allergic reaction can be caused by foods like peanuts, nuts, tomatoes, eggs, fresh berries, chocolate, fish, almonds, Blackberries, boysenberries, cherries, currants, dewberries, gooseberries, grapes or raisins, Fruit Cake, Lima Beans, nectarines, oranges, peaches, plums or prunes, raspberries, cucumbers or pickles, Eggplant, tomatoes, Soy Sauce, apples and apricots especially their seeds, strawberries and milk. An individual can be allergic to any ingredient in the food like people allergic to oxalic acid should avoid Coffee, Cocoa. Beans, Beets, Berries, Celery, Chocolate, Cranberries, Peanuts, Peppers, Bell, Pepper, Black, Rhubarb, Spices, Spinach, Strawberries, Summer Squash, Sweet Potatoes, Teas, Tofu and Wine. Artificially flavored foods and drinks should be strictly avoided, particularly those which contain FD&C Dye No. 5 (Tartrazine). Other things that should be avoided are Chilies and spicy foods, Ascorbic Acid, Soybeans, Soy Oil, Soup, Canned, Vinegar, Sweetbreads, asparagus, cauliflower, lentils, beans, peas, spinach, mushrooms, oatmeal, whole wheat bread and whole grain cereals kidney, anchovies, sardines, liver, brain, meat extracts or gravies and Wheat Germ. Adulterated foods should be avoided.
The diet for hives can include fresh vegetables, Milk, egg, fruit, cheese, enriched bread and cereal, butter, olive oil only and other foods which are not prohibited. These foods can only be taken if you aren't sensitive to them separately. Meats, fish and seafood may be eaten once a week. Distilled liquors or beer may be taken only in moderation. Essentially no organ meats and no rendered or 'distilled' products of cooking meat should be included in diet and the entire diet should be severely fat limited. Lactose is a natural sugar in milk. No milk, no chocolate milk, no ice cream, nothing with whey or casein. Butter, yogurt, Cottage cheese and cheese are permitted when the lactose has been removed. Foods and drugs are the common causes of hives. Some patients get hives occasionally only when they ingest a specific food or food additives. The worst thing of hives is that there is no simple straight forward way to test sensitivities to any ingredient present in the foods. There can be several reasons for any food to cause problems and one thing can be allergic to one individual but might not be allergic to a different person. The only method of treating hives is to eliminate and then see what happens. Eat little food that is allergic to establish that it is allergic and then increase or decrease dose as needed. Also another big problem is that at times a combination of food is responsible for allergic reactions.
